Simon Cowell made $42 million with Sony
LONDON, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Simon Cowell's venture with Sony Music brought the television impresario $42 million this year, British financial documents revealed.
The Guardian said Saturday the most-recent financial filings from Syco Entertainment showed Cowell earned nearly 27 million pounds ($42 million) in its first year.
Cowell holds 50 percent of Syco. As part of the deal he got back a stake in the television hit "The X Factor" and the "Got Talent" franchise.
The newspaper said Syco lists itself as a non-trading holding company with four entertainment subsidiaries.
'Fast Five' tops 2011 BitTorrent downloads
HOLLYWOOD, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Analysts said the film "Fast Five" was the most-popular movie of the year among users of the U.S. illegal-download service BitTorrent.
Data released by TorrentFreak this week said "Fast Five" was downloaded 9.3 million times in 2011 with "The Hangover II," "Thor" and "Source Code" following with more than 8 million downloads each.
